The All Progressives Congress, APC, has made clean sweep of the Local Government Council polls conducted in Kaduna and Kogi States on Saturday, October 19.

Declaring the LG poll result in Kaduna, the State Independent Electoral Commission, KAD-SIECOM, stated that the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, won all the 23 Local Government Chairmanship positions and the 255 Councillorship seats across the State on Saturday.

Announcing the results, KAD-SIECOM Chairman, Hajara Mohammed, said eight political parties participated in the elections. And the APC emerged victorious in all the contested positions.

She said, “The electoral officers have submitted their reports. And at the end of the exercise, APC candidates won all 23 Chairmanship positions. The party also won all the 255 Councillorship seats across the State.”

Mohammed further confirmed that the results were compiled in accordance with the law. With all Local Government and Ward Returning Officers declaring the outcomes in their respective constituencies.

In the same light, the All Progressives Congress, APC, candidates have been declared the winner of all contested positions in Saturday’s Local Government elections in Kogi State.

Announcing the results late Saturday night in Lokoja, the Chairman of the Kogi State Independent Electoral Commission (KSIEC), Mamman Nda Eri, said the All Progressives Congress, APC, won in all the contested seats in the State.

The KSIEC Chairman made the announcement at the Commission’s office, amidst tight security.

However, in an unusual move, there was no detailed breakdown of votes. And the total number of votes cast and each party’s tally were not provided.

The Chairman simply announced the names of the winners and their respective parties. He omitted the vote counts or the number of people who voted.

Eri, however, explained that the results had been declared by each electoral officer at their respective polling units. He stated that he was merely confirming the field results.
