The Sokoto State Independent Electoral Commission, SSIEC, has announced the All Progressives Congress, APC, winner of the Local Government Chairmanship election in the State.
Declaring the results on Monday, SSIEC Chairman, Aliyu Suleiman said APC won all the 23 Local Government Chairmanship seats in the State.
Suleiman also stated that the APC won all the Councillorship positions in the 23 Local Government Areas of the State.
According to him, 15 political parties participated in the elections, which took place on Saturday, September 21.
However, the main opposition party in the State, the Peoples Democratic Part (PDP) did not participate in the election.
Immediately after the declaration, the winners in the elections were issued with Certificates of Return by the Chairman of the Commission.
According to Daily Trust, the elected Chairmen would be sworn in by the Sokoto State Governor, Ahmed Aliyu.
