The Federal Government of Nigeria has debunked rumours making the rounds of the US and France planning to set their military base in Nigeria.
The FG therefore, asked Nigerians to discountenance the allegations that foreign military base are to be established in Nigeria.
This was contained in a statement signed by the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris. The Minister urged the general public to totally disregard the falsehood.
The statement read; “The Federal Government is not in any such discussion with any foreign country.”
Idris went on to explain that the government has not received any proposals from any country.
“The Federal Government has not received any proposal on the establishment of any foreign military base in Nigeria.”
Idris stated that the Nigerian Government already enjoys foreign cooperation in tackling ongoing security challenges.
He, however, added that President Bola Tinubu remains committed to deepening these partnerships. This is with the goal of achieving the national security objectives of the Renewed Hope Agenda.
