The Federal Government through the Minister of Interior, Tunji-Ojo, has declared Wednesday, May 1, 2024, a public holiday. This is to commemorate this year’s Workers’ Day celebration across the country.

Declaring the public holiday, the Minister, Tunji-Ojo, re-iterated the need for excellence, efficiency and equity in all spheres of labour.

Ojo reaffirmed the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu-led administration’s commitment to fostering a culture of innovation, productivity, and inclusivity in the workplace.

The Minister said: “In alignment with this year’s theme, which focuses on ensuring safety and health at work in a changing climate, I wish to state that the Federal Government remains steadfast in its resolve to prioritize the safety and well-being of all citizens.

“Let me reaffirm Mr. President’s commitment to providing a conducive environment for work. Where every worker can thrive and contribute meaningfully to national development.

The Minister acknowledged the contribution of workers to nation development. He, however, called for proactive measures to mitigate the adverse effects of climate change. He noted that this can be achieved through synergy in the implementation of sustainable practices and policies that promote well-being in the workplace.

The Minister, therefore, called on the workers to build a nation guided by the principles of integrity, diligence and compassion.

He also urged Nigerians to remain committed to the present administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda. And, he wishes Nigerian workers a happy celebration.
