There is a need for a clarion call to all Nigerians, this is following the removal of the fuel subsidy is the immediate and continual climbing of the prices of commodities in our markets.
It has become common knowledge that the prices of petroleum products readily influence the prices of other products in Nigeria. Therefore, whoever wants to influence the prices of other products should effect changes on the prices of the petroleum products.
The President of this Nation turned the knob of increments on the prices of petroleum products when he announced the removal of the fuel subsidy. From then till date, the prices of other products and services have not only skyrocketed but summersaulted astronomically!
Trust the Nigerian polity when it comes to generating hardship for themselves and complaining to high heavens.
In consequence, all the dealers on whatever products or services are in their shops with the Shylock’s dagger. Their daily aim is to stab and draw the blood. And even to stab to death, those who come to patronize them.
Price increases becomes recurrent daily decimal, despite the hardship it is unleashing on everybody.
Both those dealing on local and imported goods will readily point at the fuel subsidy removal and the dwindling exchange rate of the Naira as the reasons for their actions.
In consequence, garri, palm oil, fish, onions, pepper, yams, tomatoes, cooking salt, sugar, groundnut etc have acquired unaffordable prices. The prevailing emotions in our markets is anger, hunger, hanger and flogger hidden wishes.
All blames, criticisms and complaints eventually remain directed at the President who started it all.
Protests, strike actions, criticisms and condemnations are pouring like rain, but cooling not the heated polity
It is human and natural to react in tandem with the nature and scope of incidents. Hence, all these goings-on! Nevertheless, complaints, criticisms and condemnations are not solutions to our present problems.
Therefore, I make this clarion call:
Whoever has positive cum progressive suggestions to make to solve our current problem should bring them forward!
Do your own part as a patriot, and leave the rest to those at the helm of affairs to handle as they please.
