The Board of Trustees of New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) has directed all financial institutions including banks in Nigeria to stop with immediate effect, every transaction on any account with the name of party, NNPP. The party, however, stated that except the Original Certificate of Registration by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is produced and presented to the scheduled officers.
NNPP made this clarification following the activities of fraudsters and unauthorized persons who are illegally using photocopies of the Certificate of Registration of the party to operate illegal bank accounts.
The disclosure was contained in press release signed by NNPP National Secretary, Comrade Oginni Olaposi.
Making the release public on Sunday, Olaposi said the party recognized the fact that the original Certificate of Registration is the prerequisite for the opening and operations of Bank Accounts and financial transactions. The party, therefore, ordered the immediate stoppage of any banking transaction with the name of the party.
The National Secretary said this is an effort by the Board of Trustees to deal with fraudsters who have infiltrated the party. He, therefore solicited for the cooperation of all Commercial Banks and financial institutions in this regard. He also informed that the EFCC has also been duly informed of the nefarious activities of these fraudsters pretending to be NNPP’s officers.
Olaposi, however, noted that payment into the accounts are allowed, but withdrawal is restricted.
