The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has cleared all the 33 Local Government Areas of Oyo State in the just concluded LG Council elections. In the same vein, the All Progressives Congress, APC swept all the 11 Local Government position in the State.
The Oyo State Council poll result was announced by Chairman of Oyo State Independent Electoral Commission (OYSIEC), Aare Isiaka Olagunju (SAN).
However, the opposition parties in Oyo have called for the cancellation of the polls as a result of irregularities.
But reacting to the victory, the Deputy National Chairman (South) of the PDP, Ambassador Taofeek Arapaja, has extoled the performance of his party in the election. He, however, called on candidates of the opposition who lost at the poll to accept the outcome in good faith.
Arapaja called on them to join hands with the PDP led government for the development of the State.
The Deputy National Chairman equally advised the winners to be magnanimous in victory. He charged them to work hard for the realization of the vision of Governor Seyi Makinde at the grassroots level.
In a related development, Similarly, the All Progressives Congress, APC have also emerged victorious in the Local Government Council election. APC swept clean all the 11 Local Government Areas of Gombe in the election conducted on Saturday.
The Chairman of the Gombe State Independent Electoral Commission, Saidu Shehu, while announcing the result said only five of the 19 registered political parties participated in the election.
“Out of 19 registered political parties, five parties had candidates. The parties that participated are APC, PDP, AP, ZLP and YPP.
“APC cleared the 11 Local Government Areas including Kaltungo and Shongom where the party won unopposed.”
