The embattled Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, Sylvester Ezeokenwa, has hailed the Supreme Court verdict that recognized him as the party’s National Chairman.
The apex court on Wednesday, unanimous passed judgment confirming Ezeokenwa as the National Chairman of APGA.
The five-member panel of the Supreme Court led by Stephen Adah ruled that Edozie Njoku was wrong for parading himself as APGA National Chairman.
Reacting to the judgement, Ezeokenwa declared that the storm was over in the crisis that have bogged the party at the national level. He said, “Following the Supreme Court verdict the storm is over.
The National Chairman, therefore, stated that the party has decided to close ranks and build a formidable party. He describe APGA as an indivisible and united family regardless of whichever roles previously played by members.
Ezeokenwa stated this while speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Tuesday.
“The Supreme Court came hard on the people it called desperate politicians. Who are trying to destabilize the country and the political parties.”
Ezeokenwa spoke on developments in the party, especially on the role played by Bianca Ojukwu, the wife of the late Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu.
The National Chairman also used the programme to clarify the membership of the newly confirmed Minister as a member of APGA.
When asked if Bianca Ojukwu was still an APGA member, Ezeokenwa replied in the affirmative.
He said, “Despite her appointment as the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs by President Bola Tinubu, Bianca has not dumped the party.
“The party granted Ojukwu permission to take up the ministerial assignment.
“She is a BoT member of the party to date. And she has not resigned her membership of the party. She had that appointment as a member of the party,” Ezeokenwa said.
“I called on the President and I commend him on that appointment. She (Bianca) is a member of APGA.
“The earliest call I made to the President is to ensure now that you have won the election and the Supreme Court has affirmed your election as the President of Nigeria, it is now time to close ranks. Because the people that can help you achieve your manifesto are not domiciled within your party. You have technocrats that are in other political parties,” Ezeokenwa said.
The APGA National Chairman, therefore, her appointment as a minister as a plus for the opposition party.
According to him, APGA is ready to be part of an inclusive government of Mr. President.
