The Governor of Jigawa State, Umar Namadi has ordered the immediate suspension of the Commissioner for Special Duties, Auwalu Danladi Sankara over his alleged dishonourable escapade with a married woman in Kano.
This is even as the Governor ordered for the setting up of a five-member investigative panel to probe the veracity of Hisbah Kano’s allegations against the embattled Commissioner.
The probe panel, is to be headed by the Secretary to the State Government, Bala Ibrahim. Other members of the panel are the Commissioners for Information and Basic Education, Sagir Musa Ahmed, and the Special Adviser to the Governor on Security Matters, Lawan Yunusa Danzomo. Also in the panel are the Principal Private Secretary to the Governor, (PPS), Usman Muhammad Jahun and Muhammad Garun Gabas, as the Secretary.
This was contained in a statement by the Secretary to the State Government, (SSG) Bala Ibrahim on Saturday. He said the action was to necessitate a thorough probe into the allegation of sexual misconduct by Kano State Hisbah.
Ibrahim stated that the decision comes in light of recent claims that necessitates a thorough examination of the allegation. He said it is to ensure transparency and to uphold the integrity of the State Government.
The SSG also emphasized the State Government’s commitment to accountability and adherence to ethical standards in governance.
He said, “The suspension is a precautionary measure intended to facilitate a fair investigation.”
“We take all allegations seriously and are dedicated to upholding the trust of Jigawa citizens in the government.”
According to the SSG, the State Government views with serious concern the reports circulating in various sections of the media alleging the suspended Commissioner’s involvement in an incident reported before Kano State Hisbah recently.
“The reports have caused significant embarrassment and degradation to the reputation of the State Government.
“Accordingly, the State Government is compelled to set up a committee to investigate the reality of the allegations.
“Therefore, the Executive Governor of Jigawa State, Malam Umar Namadi, has constituted a committee to be chaired by the Secretary to the State Government, Malam Bala Ibrahim.
“Other members of the Committee are: 1. Hon. Commissioner for Information, Youth, Sports and Culture – Member; 2. Hon. Commissioner for Basic Education, Hon Lawal Yunusa Danzomo – Member ; 3. Special Adviser Security Matters – Member; 4; Principal Private Secretary to the Governor – Secretary.
The Committee has two weeks within which to submit its report.
