With less than 24 hours to the conduct of the October 19 Kaduna State Local Government elections, defection has hit the opposition party in the State.

This is even as the Labour Party State Chairman, Isah Chiroma, and the Councillorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Kafachan Ward B Jema’a LGA, Abdullahi Imrah, have defected to the All Progressives Congress, APC.

According to reports, Chiroma, disclosed his defection to APC during the flag-off of the campaign and presentations of flags to Councillorship candidates.

Chiroma gave the inclusive system of governance of Senator Uba Sani and the infrastructural development in Southern Kaduna as his reason. He stated that these factors motivated him to join APC in moving the State forward.

In a similar development, the PDP Councillorship candidate for Ward B Jema’a LGA, Imrah announced his dumping of his.

Imarh stated that though it is a few days to elections, he decided to pull out of PDP and join Peter Tanko in APC. He emphasized that union would afford him the opportunity to work together  with Tanko to move the country forward.

Welcoming the defectors, the Kaduna State Deputy Governor, Dr. Hadiza Sabuwa Balarabe, praised the decamping politicians. She congratulated them for making a wise choice by joining the winning team.

The Deputy Governor assured them that they would be carried along.

Speaking on the forthcoming election, Balarabe said from the turnout of the supporters, it is obvious that APC is on track to victory. She, however, advised the APC members to conduct themselves properly during the election.

Addressing journalists at the event, the APC Chairmanship candidate for Ja’mma Local Government Council, Peter Tanko Dogara, expressed  confidence of victory. He assured the people of Jemaa LGA that they are going to experience the dividends of democracy through good governance and transparency.

He said, “I have a lot of things for the community. The issues of security, health, investment, and empowerment are paramount to the community. And these are things that we are looking for.”
