A man identified as Markus Dali has been punched to death while trying to separate a fight in Adamawa State.
According to report, the peacemaker had stepped between two fighters; Barka Yama and Alex Tari who were exchanging fisticuffs.
However, Dali became victim as Yarma allegedly landed him a blow that led to his death.
DAILY POST reports that the three are from Sina Kwande Community in the Michika Local Government Area of Adamawa State.
However, the Adamawa State Police Command have arrested the 32-year-old Yarma. He was arraigned before the Chief Magistrate Court I sitting in Yola, on the charge of culpable homicide.
Arraigning the defendant, the prosecuting police officer, ASP Francis Audu, explained that while Yarma and Tari were fighting on the 30th August, 2024, Dali decided to intervene. But that the defendant gave Dali a blow, after which he fell down and became unconscious.
βHe was later confirmed dead by a medical doctor after he was rushed to the hospital,β the police prosecutor said.
After the defendant pleaded guilty, the prosecutor urged the court to remand him in a Correctional Centre. This is to enable the prosecution transmit the case diary to the Department of Public Prosecution for legal advice.
The court, presided over by Chief Magistrate Muhammed Njidda, granted the application and ordered that the defendant be so remanded.
