The hope of the people of Umuokogbuo Autonomous Community, in Eluama, Isuamawu Isuikwuato Local Government Area of Abia State was over the weekend lifted as the Abia State Government representatives visited on inspection tour of the deployable Amuta-Umuokogbuo, renamed Rufus Obi Road.

Among the officials on the visit were the Honorable Commissioner of Works, Engr. Otumchere Oti, the Attorney General of Abia State, Hon. Ikechukwu Uwanna, and legal luminary, Ken Ahia Esq. (SAN), among others.

On hand to receive the team, was a prominent daughter of the community, Dr. Chief Onyinye Kay Rufus-Obi.

Welcoming the team, Dr. Rufus-Obi described the visit as the commencement of greater things to come to Umuokogbuo community. She said it is a reflection of the steadfast commitment of His Excellency, Alex Chioma Otti, to enhance the lives of Abians and rejuvenate the face of Abia State.

Conducting the team around the length of the Road, Dr. Rufus-Obi expressed optimism that work would start on the Road very soon.

“The Road will soon join the ranks of the many successfully executed projects under the leadership of Dr. Alex Chioma Otti,” she said.

While praising the developmental efforts of the Abia State Governor, Dr. Rufus Obi urged Abians to remain law-abiding.

She also urged Abian to rally support for the Governor, both now and in the future, to turn the dreams of the founding fathers of Abia State into reality.

β€œIt is also noteworthy that the Nunya-Ogboro Road in Isuikwuato is currently under construction. This is part of the several people-oriented and economically beneficial projects initiated by the Dr. Alex Otti Government,” Dr. Rufus-Obi said.

She, therefore, prayed God to bless the Governor and the good people of Isuikwuato, and all residents of Abia State, Nigeria.

The Amuta-Umuokogbuo Road, which has witnessed near-misses of been tarred on number of occasions, is the only major Road in Isuamawu that is not motorable as at present.

The poor state of the Road, has made it difficult for residents of Umuokogbuo – Eluama to access other communities and transport their agricultural produce to nearby markets.

Recall that Dr. Rufus-Obi had in September, led a delegation of Traditional Rulers and prominent sons and daughters of Isuikwuato on a visit to the Governor, Dr. Alex Otti.
