The former Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, and the Emir of Kano, Sanusi Mohammed Lamido Sanusi II has insisted that former President Goodluck sacked him as the boss of the apex bank.
This is contrary to Jonathan statement that he only suspended and not sacked, the Emir of Kano, Muhammad Sanusi II.
But speaking at a book presentation, Sanusi stated that the former President sacked him as Governor of the CBN, over the whistle he blew on the alleged missing $49.8 billion.
Sanusi, who took to the podium hours after Jonathan’s comment, in his characteristic, jokingly insisted that he was sacked by Jonathan.
He said, “My boss sacked me. I was constructively dismissed. I continue to respect Jonathan and don’t have grudges against anyone.”
Speaking on the petroleum situation in the country, the monarch described the situation as disturbing. He decried what he described as the frustration of Dangote Refinery.
According to him, Nigeria was supposed to be maximizing the benefits of ending fuel importation, with the establishment of the refinery.
The Emir, however, regretted that the privately-owned refinery was being frustrated because of vested interests.
He said, “Instead of grabbing this opportunity, we are frustrating it. This is due to vested interests.’’
Sanusi noted that for years, the Nigerian state had been captured by rent-seekers. He, therefore, insisted that “people get into office and what they think is how much they can get from the State.’’
Speaking on the book he coauthored with Shamsudeen Usman, Sanusi said Usman was his lecturer at the university.
He, therefore, expressed joy that Usman, as one of the longest-serving public officials, had never been invited by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.
“It is rare,’’ the monarch stated with emphasis.
The event also witnessed the formal unveiling of the Shamsuddeen Usman Foundation, SUF. The Foundation was founded and registered by Dr. Usman’s children in his honour.
It is dedicated to the promotion of education and Artificial Intelligence, AI, in the country.
