Dr. Okechukwu Samuel Ogah has been named among the Seventeen Lecturers of the University of Ibadan that made the list of Africa top 100 Scientist for 2025 rankings.

The University of Ibadan Journalists reports, that the University secured 17 presence in the coveted list of Africa Top 100 Scientists.

According to UIJ, these lecturers were ranked by AD Scientific Index, a reputable innovative and dynamic platform. The platform is dedicated to ranking and analyzing the scientific output of researchers and institutions around the world.

“They were ranked based on their commitment and expertise across various scientific disciplines.

“The list below showcases the notable lecturers from the University of Ibadan who were selected. They were also deem exceptional in their respective fields as well as their ranks amongst the top 100 scientists recognized in the country:

Oye Gureje (Medical and Health Sciences/Psychiatry) – Ranked 1st in Nigeria

Mayowa Owolabi (Medical and Health Sciences/Neurology) – Ranked 3rd in Nigeria

Olayinka Stephen Ilesanmi (Medical and Health Sciences/Epidemiology and Public Health) – Ranked 4th in Nigeria

Olatunde Farombi (Medical and Health Sciences/Biochemistry) – Ranked 11th in Nigeria

Rufus Akinyemi (Medical and Health Sciences/Neurology) – Ranked 12th in Nigeria

Oladele Osibanjo (Natural Sciences/Chemical Sciences) – Ranked 26th

Kayode Adebowale (Natural Sciences/Chemical Sciences) – Ranked 31st

Iruka Okeke (Medical and Health Sciences/Microbiology) – Ranked 37th

Okechukwu Samuel Ogah (Others) – Ranked 41st

Isaac Adewole (Medical and Health Sciences/Obstetrics and Gynecology) – Ranked 43rd

Abiodun I. Sanni (Medical and Health Sciences/Microbiology) – Ranked 49th

Eme Owoaje (Medical and Health Sciences) – Ranked 56th

Adaramoye Oa (Medical and Health Sciences/Biochemistry) – Ranked 66th

Akinyinka Omigbodun (Others) – Ranked 74th

Adeniyi Francis Fagbamigba (Medical and Health Sciences/Epidemiology and Public Health) – Ranked 87th

Temitope Raphael Ayodele (Engineering and Technology/Energy Engineering) – Ranked 89th

Lola Kola (Medical and Health Sciences/Psychiatry) – Ranked 99th.

According to the ranking, Dr. Ogah ranked 41 in Africa.

Dr. Okechukwu Samuel Ogah hails from Onuaku, Uturu, Isuikwuato Local Government Area of Abia State.

He once served as Commissioner for Health in Abia State, under Governor T.A. Orji.

Ogah is a Senior Lecturer/Consultant Physician/Cardiologist at the University College Hospital, Ibadan. He was the past President of Nigerian Cardiac Society.
