Former first lady, Dame Patience Jonathan has insisted that her husband, former Nigerian President, Goodluck Jonathan will not run in the presidential race in 2027.

According to ex-first lady, Jonathan had occupied the highest political office in Nigeria, therefore, he has no further political ambition.

Patience made this stance while hosting the Greater Igbo Forum in Abuja. Addressing the Forum, the former First Lady said Jonathan had held numerous significant political positions since leaving office.

The ex-first lady, however, assured that the former President was committed to supporting President Bola Tinubu’s administration.

According to Patience Jonathan: “My husband has reached the pinnacle of political office. What is he looking for again? We are not going in again.”

Dame Patience also called on the Igbo people to unite. She urged them to focus on the collective good rather than personal or political differences.

“We should love this country more than ourselves. Because if you don’t love this country, what is the future of our children?” she queried.

She also urged the Igbo community to set aside politics and work towards unity and development.

“Let us manage one another. Let us love ourselves. And let us be united and be our brother’s keepers,” the former first lady added.
