The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has extended the collection of Permanent Voter Cards, PVCs, in Edo State by three days. The extension begins from Friday, September 13 to Sunday, September 15.

This was contained in a statement by INEC spokesman, Sam Olumekun.

Giving reason for the extension, Olumekun said, “The INEC made the extension owing to demands by political parties at the Edo governorship election stakeholders meeting. The meeting was held at the Victor Uwaifo’s Event Centre in Benin City, Edo State Capital.

“Consequently, a three-day extension has been granted from Friday 13th – Sunday 15th September 2024. The cards will be available for collection in our 18 Local Government offices across the State. The time has been slated from 9am to 5pm daily.”

He revealed that the meeting was well attended by candidates and political party leaders. They, however, unanimously appealed to the Commission to consider an extension of the period for the collection of Permanent Voters Cards (PVCs) for a few days. This, the parties maintained will enable more voters to collect their cards.

Meanwhile, INEC has acceded to the request. It however, appealed to all registered voters in Edo State, that are yet to collect their PVCs.

INEC urged them to seize the opportunity of the extension to do so.
