Former Senator that represented Kaduna Central Senatorial District at the upper chambers of the National Assembly, Shehu Sani has alleged that the incidents of waving foreign nations flags, especially Russia was to overthrow the President Bola Tinubu’s government.
Sani also stated that the protesters in some of the northern States were motivated through the inducement of money.
IVNTV NEWS had reported that there have been concerns over the flying of foreign flags in the northern States. Some protesters were seen waving foreign flags including that of Russia.
Recall that on Sunday, online videos and pictures of protesters waving flags believed to be that of Russia and clamouring for return of military rule in Nigeria bombarded the air space.
The Nigeria Police Force, NPF, the Department of State Services, DSS, and other security agencies have stated that several individuals involved in the matter have been arrested.
Reacting to the development, the former Kaduna Central Senator, Shehu Sani condemned the act.
Speaking on Channels Television’s program on Tuesday, August 6, Sani condemned the waving of the Russian flag by the protesters. He noted that it was an attempt by some elements to overthrow the Tinubu’s government.
He said, “A day before the last protest, money was shared to the youths, and Russian flags were also shared.
“That shows that the whole intent of the protest is not simply about the policies and programmes of the government.
“There was an attempt to create an atmosphere where there would be an overthrow of the government.
“When you have this kind of situation, you will see that someone is writing a script. He is plotting for anarchy, lawlessness, and disorder. It is incumbent for someone like us to speak,” Sani said.
