Bandits on Friday, June 14 attacked the Abaji Divisional Police headquarters in Abuja and also robbed a branch of a commercial bank in the area.
According to DAILY POST, the assailants, numbering about 15, invaded a commercial bank and the police facility in the area. The incident which happened simultaneously on Thursday occurred in evening at about 5:00 PM, the report said.
The DAILY POST, however, reports that a police officer and two of the suspects were killed during the attack.
The incident has been confirmed by the Federal Capital Territory, FCT Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh.
Speaking to journalist on Friday, Adeh said operatives of the command, in a combined operation with the military, engaged the armed men in a gun duel. She pointed that the ugly incident led to the death of three casualties.
According to the PPRO, three suspects, including a reported leader of the criminal gang were killed. She gave the identity of killed gang leaders simply as Usman.
Adeh also added that some of the suspects were apprehended by the security agents.
According to DAILY POST, angry mobs in the area set the body of one of the deceased suspects ablaze.
