The Abia State Chapter Chairman of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations, NIPR, Felix Olunkwa was on Wednesday released by his adductors after 10 days in their den.
The NIPR State Chairman was declared missing after he was said to have been abducted on the Enugu-Aba-Port Harcourt Expressway. The report had stated that the Chairman was abducted while driving home from Aba, Abia State.
His earlier attempt to fix the car at the popular Ohiya Spare Parts Market in Umuahia, but was unsuccessful.
Therefore, Olunkwa had travelled to Aba to repair his uncle’s Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) at Alaoji Mechanic/Spare Parts Market. The market is located on the Alaoji axis of the Enugu-Aba-Port Harcourt Expressway, Aba.
But after waiting for his return and he was no where to be found, his wife raised the alarm.
She narrated that she had communicated with her husband who told her that he was on his way home from Aba. The wife stated that all efforts to reach him on his phone failed, which fueled her anxiety.
However, the good news is that the abducted Chairman has reunited with his family on Wednesday night.
According to report, the Chairman was released after a ransom payment of N4 million was made to the kidnappers. It maintained that the kidnappers had initially demanded for ₦200m ransom, which couldn’t be met by the family.
However, Olunkwa’s family house was a beehive of activities as friends and associates thronged to commensurate with him and to thank God for his release.
A call has been placed to the Governor of Abia StateProtest rocks Abia, as youths protest death of female crane operator and heads of various security agencies to secure the State.
They insisted that Government must ensure adequate security for the citizens of the State.
