The sensational France international and Paris Saint-Germain goal poacher, Kylian Mbappe has signed a five-year contract with European Champions, Real Madrid.
This was contained in a statement by the Spanish giants on Monday.
The statement read, “Real Madrid have reached an agreement for the player to be at Real Madrid for the next five seasons.”
However, according to Mbappe on social media, he described the move was “a dream come true”.
He said, “So happy and proud to join the club of my dreams @realmadrid. Nobody can understand how excited I am right now. Can’t wait to see you, Madridistas, and thanks for your unbelievable support,” Mbappe added.
According to the statement, Mbappe will earn 35 million Euros ($38 million) a season.
Reports also stated that Mbappe had verbally agreed to move to Real in February. And, he had in May, announced he would leave PSG at the end of the season.
Recall that Real Madrid won their 15th Champions League on Saturday with a 2-0 victory against Borussia Dortmund.
The confirmation of Mbappe’s contract is coming ahead the wonderkid taking part in the pre-Euro 2024 friendlies for France.
Mbappe has achieved many successes in his football career. As a teenager at 18 years, he won the World Cup inn2018. He scored a club record 256 goals for PSG since joining the Qatar-owned club from Monaco on an initial loan in 2017.
Mbappe eventually moved to PSG in a 180-million-Euro ($195 million) deal — all at the age of 18.
He helped PSG to six Ligue 1 titles and steered them to the 2020 Champions League final. The club, however, lost to Bayern Munich.
Mbappe scored a hat-trick in the World Cup final against Argentina in Qatar in 2022.
Recall that PSG lavished huge sums to put Mbappe, Brazil star Neymar and Messi in the same team. The club had hoped the equation would unlock the Champions League puzzle for the club. But the French giants came up short.
Mbappe had wanted to leave PSG at the end of the 2022 season, but it took the intervention of President Emmanuel Macron to persuade him to stay.
Real Madrid fans are looking forward to seeing a formidable attacking trio of Mbappe, Vinicius Jr and Jude Bellingham in the coming seasons.
