With growing poverty and political challenges confronting the northern part of the country, former military President, General Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida has proffers a solution to the crisis.

According to the former Military President, what the North needed to overcome its perennial challenges is unity.

Babangida made this disclosure while receiving officials from the Northern Star Youth Empowerment Initiative (NSYEI) at his Hilltop residence in Minna, Niger State.

He said, “Only through unity can the North overcome its numerous challenges, which makes the birth of Northern Star movement at this time both commendable and timely.”

While commending the NSYEI’s efforts, Babangida urged the group to work tirelessly towards uniting the North and ultimately the entire country.

According to him, unity was the key to overcoming the region’s challenges. A situation that makes the NSYEI’s movement both timely and commendable.

The NSYEI officials, were led by former Governor of Sokoto State and Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Alh. Attahiru Bafarawa. He was accompanied, by the co-chairperson of the Initiatives, Hajia Naja’atu Mohammed and Director-General Dr. Abdullahi Idris, shared Babangida’s sentiments.

Speaking at the occasion, Bafarawa emphasized the importance of unity among the diverse people of the North. He noted that unity would allow the region to pursue its interests as a strong, unified entity within the Nigerian federation.
