Veteran Nollywood actor Bimbo Manuel has opened up on the financial challenges faced by majority in the acting industry.
Manuel who was speaking on the presumed affluence in the Nollywood industry said no Nollywood actor can buy Range Rover from acting income.
The veteran actor made this revelation during an appearance on TVC’s “Your View” programme. He used the event to address the perception of wealth among Nigerian actors.
Responding to the difference in transparency between the US Hollywood and Nigerian Nollywood, the 66-year-old actor attributed the contrast to cultural and industry differences.
He noted that when it comes to disclosing actor fees, the Hollywood are more transparent than the Nollywood.
“The experience you had counts, it suggests to whoever wants to hire what fee you command. It is also not a fixed rate, it fluctuates,” Manuel said.
Asked if Nigerian actors could afford high-end vehicles through their acting careers alone?
He said, “The actors you see flaunting Range Rovers and mansions in Ikoyi are living fake lives.”
“There is no actor in Nigeria that would say he or she can buy a Range Rover from acting fees alone.”
