The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, NNPCL, has denied knowledge of any petrol pump price hike in its outlets.
This was contained in a statement by the NNPCL spokesperson, Olufemi Soneye.
In an exclusive interview with DAILY POST on Tuesday, Soneye denied knowledge of any imcreae in petrol price. He said he is not aware of any fresh Premium Motor Spirit pump price increase across its retail outlets.
Soneye comment comes amid speculation that NNPCL had increased fuel pump to from N1,030 per litre to N1060 in Abuja.
Recall that on Tuesday the social media was a awash with story of fuel pump price increase in NNPCL outlets in Lagos and Abuja.
However, the NNPCL spokesperson, Soneye, stated that he was not aware of any hike in price.
He said, “There is no increase in gasoline price that I am aware of”.
Similarly, the spokesperson of the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria, Chinedu Ukadike, said NNPCL’s ex-depot price has not changed.
“For independent marketers, we have not experienced a fresh price hike. As I am speaking with you, NNPCL still sells to us at the same price.
“For Port Harcourt, it is N1040 per litre; Abuja and Lagos are around N990 per litre,” Ukadike told DAILY POST on Tuesday.
Recall that the President of Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote, had earlier said petroleum marketers are ignoring its refinery’s 500 million litres of fuel.
Recall that on October 9, 2024, NNPCL had increased its petrol price to N1030 per litre.
