Traditionalists in Ugbineh Community in Ovia Northeast Local Government Area of Edo State have invoked curses on those that burgled the police station in the community.
According to DAILY POST report, the elders and residents of the Community had engaged the traditionalists to invoke curses on those responsible for the burglary of a police station on Thursday.
Reports stated that the police station which was built through communal efforts, was yet to be commissioned for use. It was, however, vandalized by unknown vandals in the community. The vandals were reported to have stolen furniture, electrical cables and fittings among others in the building. A situation that angered the community that they sought punishment for the perpetrators.
DAILY POST gave the identities of the traditionalists hired by the community as Ayelala and Sango priests.
The traditionalists were said to have performed rites and invoked curses on the vandals. They also asked their ancestors to punish the perpetrators.
In performing the ritual, the priests were said to have matched through the village and slaughtered animals at strategic locations.
Speaking on the incident, an elders of the community, Pa Sunday Iyoha, condemned the act of vandalizing the police station.
According to Iyoha, the police station was built by the community to help in tackling insecurity in the locality.
“As we were planning to inaugurate the project, criminals invaded the police station. They vandalized equipment in the building, including electrical cables,” he said.
