The 16th Emir of Kano, Alhaji Muhammadu Sanusi II, has concluded arrangements to turban his first son the Ciroman of Kano. This is a title considered to be for the crown prince or heir apparent to the Kano Emirate.
DAILY TRUST reports that Ciroman title is of significant cultural and political importance to the Kano Emirate. This is because, traditionally it represents an individual’s direct lineage rights, coupled with oversight to manage certain districts.
Recall that Sanusi II’s father, Ambassador Aminu Sanusi, held the title until his death in the 1990s.
The last holder of the title, according to the report, was Alhaji Nasiru Ado Bayero.
Recall that Bayero was made Emir of Bichi in 2020, but he removed after four years on the throne.
The report stated that Sanusi’s son, who is a serving police officer with the rank of DSP, will be honoured alongside nine others on Friday, November 25, 2024.
Those to be honoured include Mahmud Aminu Yusufu, new Mai Unguwar Mundubawa and Dr. Abubakar Sanusi Usman Shehu II as Dan Galadiman Kano. While Alhaji Abubakar Aminu Sanusi (Wambai) is to serve as Dan Madami.
Others include Arch. Ali Muktar, Sa’in Kano; Sarki Yusuf Bayero ‘Yan Daka and Abdullahi Idris Bayero as Fagacin Kano. Ado Abdullahi Aminu, Kaigaman Kano; Idris Sanusi, Sarkin Sullubawa; Mansur Isa Bayero, Sarkin Kudu; and Abdullahi Sarki Mohammed, Sarkin Yamma.
