The Chancellor of Covenant University, Bishop David Oyedepo has revealed what he earns from running the best private university in Nigeria.

The Chancellor who spoke at the 19th Convocation ceremony of the Covenant University, Ota, Ogun State said he has not earned any wage from the university since its inception in 2001.

Oyedepo, however, added that the testimonies and transformation of the students of the institution have been his earnings so far.

The Chancellor made the remark during the graduation of the 1607 students from the institution.

According to reports, 339 students made first class, 762 came out with Second Class Upper, and 330 had Second Class Lower. While 25 had Third Class. 151 were awarded post-graduate degrees in different fields.

A graduate of Industrial Mathematics, Sanmi Rilwan Oluwademilade, emerged as the Best Student with a 4.99 Cumulative GPA. While a graduate of the Department of International Relation, Oluwasina, Gbemisola Hephzibah, had 4.97 Cumulative GPA.

Speaking on the progress of the university, Oyedepo stated that the transformation of graduates from Covenant University and their exploits in the aviation, fashion, banking, ICT and other industries have been his wages and earnings since the inception of the university.

“l said this before God. I have not earned any wages from Covenant University since its inception. Your testimonies of success and breakthroughs in different fields of endeavors have been my earnings and wages,” he said.

Oyedepo stated that he was not was looking for what to gain before establishing the university. He said he wanted to contribute meaningfully to society.

The Chancellor maintained that focusing on God’s plan and purpose for one’s life is the sure pathway to success in life.

He, therefore, charged the graduating students not to think of what they want to gain but to contribute meaningfully to the growth of society.

Recall that Covenant University was listed among the best 1000 universities in the world. The institution was listed ahead of University of Ibadan and Amadu Bello University, Zaria.
