Ahead of the Abia State Local Government, LG elections on November 2, the Emmanuel Nweze Otti- led faction of Labour Party, LP in Abia State has disowned a list of committee members reportedly constituted by the Julius Abure faction of the party.

The Committee is to oversee the conduct of the party’s primaries before the November 2 Local Government, LG, election in the State.

According to reports, the Abure-led faction of LP, had announced the constitution of a committee to be headed by Ceekay Igara for the task. Igara was the former Chairman of LP in Abia.

But speaking to FLO 94.9 FM in Umuahia, the State Secretary of the Nweze-Otti faction of the Party, Rev Andrew Ohiagba, dismissed the list. He, therefore, urged LP members to ignore the purported announcement.

Ohiagba stated that the State Working Committee, SWC was not consulted before such a committee was set up.

The Secretary further warned the public against dealing with anyone outside the rightly constituted State leadership of the Labour Party. He described the Emmanuel Nweze Otti-led faction as the authentic structure of the party in the State.

However, the Publicity Secretary of the party in Abia, Njoku Ajike, confirmed the sales of forms to interested aspirants. He stated that the sale has commenced but urged aspirants to visit the party Secretariat.

Ajike also urged them to disregard any other announcements to that effect. He said they should only act on information emanating from either office of the State Publicity Secretary. Or the acting State Chairman of the Party.
