British boxer, Daniel Dubois has knocked out world heavyweight champion, Anthony Joshua at Wembley Stadium in Saturday night.
The 27-year-old destroyed Joshua’s dream of becoming a three-time world heavyweight champion. Dubois knocked him out in fifth-round to retain his IBF belt.
Speaking at his victory over Joshua, Dubois said, “I am a gladiator, I am a warrior to the bitter end. I want to get to the top level of this game and reach my full potential.
He said, “l have only got a few words to say: Are you not entertained?” declared Dubois said at Wembley after beating Joshua.
“I have been on a rollercoaster ride. This is my time, this is my redemption story. And I’m not going to stop until l reach my full potential.”
Daniel Dubois retained his IBF world heavyweight title with a fifth-round knockout of Anthony Joshua in an all-British spectacular at Wembley on Saturday.
The 27-year-old dominated the opening stages of the bout, dropping the two-time former unified heavyweight champion multiple times.
In a dramatic fifth round Dubois was momentarily stunned by two right hands and just as Joshua looked to pile on the pressure, the 34-year-old was caught by successive right hands himself and he was down again, this time unable to beat the count.
“Are you not entertained?” Dubois said to huge cheers at Wembley.
Ukraine’s Oleksandr Usyk became boxing’s first four-belt undisputed heavyweight champion in May. This was after he beat Tyson Fury, simultaneously holding the IBF title along with the WBO, WBC and WBA.
The Ukrainian agreed to a rematch with Fury rather than facing mandatory IBF challenger Dubois.
Dubois won the interim IBF title in June and was elevated to world champion status when Usyk vacated the belt.
