The Kano State Government has promised to provide free housing to flood victims across the State. This is even as the Government stated readiness to improve the condition of learning by the provision and distribution of 220, 000 desks and chairs to students.

This was contained in a statement by the State Governor, Abba Yusuf during the weekly Executive Council meeting at the Government House on Wednesday.

The Governor explained that the housing project would target flood victims in all 44 Local Government Areas of the State.

Yusuf said, “The provision of these houses will significantly help flood victims secure suitable shelter for their families.”

“This efforts is aimed at mitigating the impact of flooding, which has displaced many families.

The Governor also revealed that the State Government is working in collaboration with the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation to provide further relief items to the flood victims.

“We are committed to supporting them with food and other essential supplies as they navigate this challenging time,” he added.

In a related development, the Governor outlined plans to improve the educational environment for primary and secondary school students.

He noted that the first phase will see the distribution of desks and chairs to 220,000 students.

“This is part of our broader effort to enhance the learning and teaching environment in our schools,” Yusuf stated.

Governor Yusuf, therefore, reassured citizens that the State Government remains focused on rehabilitating all schools in the State.

He also reiterated the Government’s commitment to providing free school uniforms to all Primary 1 pupils. This, he said, is in line with the State’s declaration of emergency on education.

Governor Yusuf urged all stakeholders in the education sector to work in synergy to achieve the State Government’s educational goals.

He said, “We must collaborate to ensure the success of these initiatives. Our children’s education is a priority, and we will continue to invest in their future.”

The Governor also commended the Executive Council members for their dedication to the State. He, however, encouraged them to remain focused on their duties, despite efforts by detractors to slow the state’s progress.

“Your contributions are invaluable. And we must not be deterred by those who seek to undermine our achievements,” the Governor said.
