Neighbours in Obehie community in Ukwa West Local Government Area of Abia State have discovered the dead bodies of six members of a family.
However, the cause of the dead of the six family members which has thrown the community pandemonium has not been ascertained by the community.
According to source, the incident happened on Wednesday, August 7, 2024, at Isi Obehie area of the community. The incident has left the community and neighboring villages into shock and mourning.
While the people are waiting to unravel the mystery behind the death, a source in the the community claimed that the victims may have died from inhaling generator fumes.
There are also claims and insinuations that the victims died as a result of a ‘spiritual attack’.
The source further revealed that the dead bodies are three children, their mother, the mother’s sister and her brother in-law.
According to the source, the only survivor in the family is the father, who was away from home at the period of the incident.
It also claimed that the victims were natives of another Local Government of Abia but residing in Obehie. The source, however, could not provide the identities of the victims.
The spokesperson of Abia State Police Command, ASP Maureen Chinaka has confirmed the incident.
According Chinaka, the Command has received the report of the incident.
She, however, stated that investigations are ongoing to determine the cause of the deaths.
“We got such report, investigation is ongoing to unveil the cause of death”, Chinaka said.
