The Presidency has denied a viral statement titled ‘Tinubu Speaks’ and credited to President Bola Tinubu. There is a viral video with the title, ;Tinubu Speaks’ which has been circulating on the social media. However, the Presidency has come out to categorically deny the authenticity of the document.

This was contained in a statement by the Presidential spokesman, Ajuri Ngelale, on Saturday.

Responding to news of the viral statement, Ngelale, dismissed the viral message attributed to his principal, as fake.

He said, “Based on recent inquiries, I wish to reiterate that this is fake. And it does not emanate from the Presidency.”

The fabricated statement attributed the President had been widely shared on social media platforms. It was a recording of a purported speech from President Tinubu addressing the nation’s economic challenges.

In the speech, the President outlined a series of drastic measures. These included a 50% salary cut for top government officials, the scrapping of the Office of the First Lady, and the restoration of fuel and electricity subsidies. These are some measures to ameliorate the current suffering of the masses.

The fake message also claimed that the President was planning to reduce the number of his ministers. And to sell off presidential aircraft, and implement a ban on foreign medical trips for government officials.

The Presidential spokesman, therefore, urged Nigerians to discountenance the statement as it did not emanate from the presidency or the President.
