Nigerian President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu has sympathized with families of the victims of the Plateau school building collapse, describing the incident as a “huge loss to the nation”.

Recall that nation was hit with the news of the collapse of a school building in Jos Plateau in the early hours of Friday, July 12.

An unconfirmed report stated that about 132 persons were injured and 22 others were confirmed dead. No reason has been adduced  to the cause of  the collapse of the two-storey structure. The school is said to be located in the Busa Buji in Jos North LGA.

Following the announcement of the incident the parents and guardians besieged the school located in the Jos North Local Government Area of the State.

Reacting to the news of the tragedy, the President’s spokesman, Ajuri Ngelale said Tinubu received the news of the tragedy with profound grief.

He stated that the President, however consoled the victims and the people of Plateau State over the incident.

The statement read, “President Tinubu describes the unfortunate incident as a huge loss to the nation. As well as a devastating development – too excruciating to imagine.”

“The President condoles with the bereaved families. Families of all the victims, and the people and Government of Plateau State.”

The President also lauded emergency responders like the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) and the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA). He also praised the security agencies, and everyone involved in the search, rescue, and resuscitation efforts at the site.

The President, however, assured the people of Plateau State of his fervent support at this difficult time.
