The Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, has said its patrol points in Zone 9 have been abolished to ensure the safety of its personnel in the zone.
According to the agency the measure is to ensure the safety of its personnel in the zone 9 areas of its operations.
Zone 9 comprises four Southeast States namely Abia, Ebonyi, Enugu and Imo.
This was contained in a statement by the Zonal Commanding Officer, FRSC (RS 9.3 HQ), Enugu, Assistant Corps Marshall Winfred Uche Chukwurah. He stated this during his maiden visit to Abia State Federal Road Safety Command, Umuahia.
Corps Marshall Chukwurah was on a working visit to the States under his Command including Abia, Enugu, Ebonyi, and Imo.
Speaking at the Command headquarters in Umuahia, he said, “We are in a new era and as such should develop a new mindset” geared at having good attitudinal change. He stated that this is order to make significant contributions towards the success of the President Ahmed Tinubu led Administration.
The Zonal Commanding Officer, used the occasion to extol the commitment and resilience of the personnel in the discharge of their duties. He also commended the harmonious relationship existing among sister security agencies, the State Government and the press.
Chukwurah also emphasized the need for the Corps to enlighten motorists as well as other road users on traffic offences and their consequences. He, however, warned against acts likely to tarnish the good image of the Corps.
Speaking earlier, the Sector Commander, Corps Commander Frederick Ade Ogidan thanked the Zonal Commander for his visit. He also expressed satisfaction with the performance of his officers.
Ogidan, however, disclosed plans to establish more units in the State . He said, this will help to ensure the safety of road users in the nooks and crannies of Abia State.
o, therefore, solicited the assistance of the Abia State Government, individuals and groups. He stated that this is important towards the realization of the purpose for which the Corps was established.
