News emanating from the Katcha Local Government Area of Niger State, has it that the Council Chairman, Hon Danlamin Abdullahi Saku, has been reportedly beaten into pulp stupor over alleged N1.3m debt.
INVNTV NEWS gathered that the LG Chairman allegedly borrowed the sum of N. 3m over a year ago from an elderly person in his village. But efforts to getting back the money from the Chairman has proved difficult.
However, things took a turn when the Chairman arrived the village for the Sallah celebration. According a source privy to the incident, on sighting the Chairman, elderly man sent his children to him to refund his money.
According to the source, the Chairman allegedly slapped one of the young boys for coming to ask for the money. The Chairman also threatened to deal with them. Asking if they did not know he was the Chairman of the Council.
The report maintained that infuriated boys therefore, mobilized their friends and descended on the Chairman. He was beaten by the boys until he lost consciousness and was rushed to the hospital.
The source also, stated that the Chairman, while receiving treatment in the hospital, decided to pay some of the money.
“A balance of N10,000 left of the total balance of the money,” the source said.
