The military aircraft conveying Malawi’s Vice President Saulos Chilima which went missing on Monday have been found.
DAILY POST reports that the military plane carrying the VP and nine others, including the former First Lady, Shanil Dzimbiri, failed to make a landing on Monday morning.
Chilima and the nine others were to attend the funeral of a prominent Malawian lawyer, former Attorney General and Justice Minister, Ralph Kasambala in Mzuzu.
Following the announcement of the disappearance of the plane carrying the VP, the President Lazarus Chakwera ordered for immediate search.
The President ordered both the regional and national forces to conduct an immediate search and rescue operation to locate the whereabouts of the missing aircraft.
However, DAILY POST gathered that the Dornier 228 military plane was found in the Chikangawa Forest early hours of Tuesday.
It reports that all passengers on board the aircraft all died.
However, a statement issued on Tuesday morning by the Press Secretary to the President, Anthony Rogbers Kasunda confirmed the development.
The Press Secretary stated that the President Chakwera will address the general public shortly.
