With the 2027 general election, years ahead, a new political movement, the Allied Conservative Congress, ACC, has emerged.
According to the founders of the movement, ACC has a vision and mission to rescue Nigeria from its slide to anarchy, economic depression, political upheavals and hopelessness.
This was contained in a statement by the National Publicity Secretary of the group, Alhaji Abubakar Sadiq.
In a copy of the press release made available to journalists in Abuja, Sadiq said ACC was strongly determined to sail Nigerians to a greater and brighter destination. He said the movement would make the country great again with its conservation ideology.
Sadiq said the movement was formed based on ideologies enshrined in Chapter 2, Fundamental Objectives and Directive Principles of State Policy, of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 as amended and “Section 14(1) and (2) of the Constitution. He stated that the Federal Republic of Nigeria shall be a state based on the principles of democracy and social justice. That sovereignty belongs to the people. And that the security and welfare of the people shall be the primary purpose of government. And that the participation by the people in their government is guaranteed.”
Sadiq observed that the clear provisions of the 1999 Constitution were neglected and observed in the breach by past and present Governments in Nigeria since the restoration of democracy in 1999.
He added, “It is this hijacking of the government by a cabal and exclusion of the people in the affairs of government that led to the horrible situation of Nigeria today and the urgent need to rescue and salvage it immediately.”
Sadiq said, all patriotic Nigerians and lovers of democracy have seen the need for the formation of a new political movement. A movement that will pioneer and pilot the rescue mission of the country before it is too late.
“Eminent Nigerians with conservative bent have met severally across the country, brainstormed and strategized. And they have charted the way forward for the country.
“Existing political movements, political parties, politicians with progressive ideology have offered their services to the nation. Which, instead of improving the well-being of citizens rather impoverished them. And these have resulted in the current national tragedy, disillusionment and confusion in governance.
“The Allied Conservative Congress, ACC, is resolved to make a difference and stand out among the motley crowd of political groups and parties that are promoting democracy in Nigeria and seeking the people’s mandate to rule. It has since applied to the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, for registration as a political party. And has structures across the 36 States of the Federation and Abuja.
“Leaders and members of ACC, are men and women of honor, integrity and probity. And with exceeding passion to make Nigeria forever great. By restoring sanity, morality, honesty, uprightness, national cohesion, unity and patriotism.
“Nigerian people who belong to our political movement have equal stake in the movement irrespective of ethnicity, religion and gender. ACC members are guided by its motto, which is, ‘Sailing Nigerians to a Greater Destination,” Sadiq said.
The National Publicity Secretary said as a conservative political movement, ACC will promote a national policy based on social justice. He maintained that the policy by ACC will be guided be the rule of law, freedom, equality and human dignity. It will also be guided by fiscal responsibility, peace and progress of all Nigerian people.
“It shall contribute in deepening democracy in the country and ushering a new era of conservative ideology. Ideology anchored on patriotism and integrity in the service to the fatherland which will accelerate political and socio-economic development of the country. Where citizens will hold government accountable,” he added.
