A 19-year-old kidnapper, identified as Mohammed Abdullahi of Gujba Local Government Area of Yobe State, has drugged his victim, an 11-year son of a neighbour to death.

According to report, the kidnapper, Abdullahi had demanded ₦600,000 in ransom before the release of his victim. But in the process of holding him for ransom, Abdullahi feed his victim with a substance drug, which led to the death of the boy.

It was also gathered that Abdullahi later buried the body of the boy in their house.

The horrific incident was revealed by the Yobe State Commissioner of Police, CP Ahmed Garba. The CP made the disclosure while parading the suspect and 17 others at the Police Command headquarters in Damaturu.

Garba, however, expressed concern over the reemerging criminal activities in the State.

“Mohammed Abdullahi, a 19-year-old suspect from Buniyadi, abducted the son of their neighbour’s 11-year-old.  And, he later demanded a ransom of 600,000 Naira. When the parents of the victim could not meet his demand, he later bought drugs and administered them to the victim to sleep. But the victim later died.

“The suspect later buried the corpse of his victim in their house while his parents were away. He was, however, later apprehended by the police,” he said.

Parading another suspect, the CP described the suspect as Sani Musa, aged 22 years. He said, Musa stabbed his victim, Sheba Simon, with a knife and snatched her cell phone. But he was also trailed, arrested and paraded by the police.

In an interview with Channels Television, the suspect, Musa, admitted to committing the crime. He said his intention was not to kill his female victim but to collect the cell phone.

Also paraded were transformer vandals at the Pompomari Community of Damanturu. Others included house burglars and those that engaged rape and armed robbery .The Police stated that in the operation for the arrests, 3 AK47 rifles and live ammunition were recovered.

The CP used the occasion of the parade of the suspects to express worry over rising insecurity in the State. He, therefore, urged the Yobe State Government to provide empowerment and skills acquisition for the teaming youths in the State. The CP stated that this would help to keep the youths busy instead of roaming about. And taking unwanted drugs, and causing mayhem to communities.
